    RF trips AFCI's ? Empty RF trips AFCI's ?

Post by Sisyphus Fri Mar 18, 2016 6:35 am

I'm informed that Radio Frequencies , apparently of significant magnitude, can trip standard afci OCPD's. Mad

The complaint hails from ham radio users &/or proximity to Ham radio owners

    Here's a 3yr old article on it>>>

ARRL Helps Manufacturer to Resolve Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter RFI Problems

It occurs to me that , as a service industry spark, the possibility exists that we are called for nuisance tripping of afci's , the culprit of which may be external from the afflicted residence No

So , as some Ham's are incognito w/o visible antenna, how are we to assess the intermittent phenomenon?

    Good one 38 Smile

So we've yet another 'signature waveform' debacle

Yet we've , to my knowledge, no guide ,parameters to assess said waveforms

Perhaps some oscilloscopic level guidance via the manufacturers would be in order?

    Thanks Smile

Question imo is: what separates dangerous arcing from dangerous arcing in terms of waveform?
